Freezer (HL01 – HL03)
With sliding glass cover, -23°C (-9°F), on wheels. Outer paneling: white sheet steel, interior paneling: plastic (HL01) or aluminum (HL02, HL03). Bottom reinforced by a metal plate. For freezing and storage of specimens and polymers. For freeze substitution with acetone and for forced impregnation we recommend the special plastination freezers HL04 – HL06. ➔ see below "Freezers - Technical Specifications"


CAUTION: When subjecting the freezer to heavy loads (e.g., large filled dehydration containers) fortifying the bottom of the freezer with, e.g., wooden boards or hard polystyrene foam sheets is highly recommended. This is especially true for the larger Freezers HL02 and HL03.

Special Freezers for Plastination (HL04 – HL06)
With glass sliding lid, -23°C (-9°F), stationary, suitable for freeze substitution with acetone and for forced impregnation. Outer paneling: white sheet steel, interior paneling: stainless steel. See table on p. 26 for technical specifications. Unless otherwise specified in your order, the freezer will have three holes drilled into the short side facing the wall, so that vacuum tubing can be inserted (HI12). ➔ Vacuum Tubing HI12 The special freezers are equivalent in their design to Freezers HL01, HL02, and HL03, but have been adapted for the special needs of plastination as follows: The bottom has been reinforced by a metal plate, the refrigeration unit has been removed and placed together with the temperature control unit in a separate case. ➔ see below "Special Freezers - Technical Specifications"

For protection from explosion, the freezer and the casing containing the refrigeration unit should be set up in neighboring rooms. Thus, potential ignition sources are kept away from the actual working area in which flammable solvents will be used. The operator is responsible for complying with all national, state, local, and institutional safety regulations! The freezer and refrigeration unit are connected by two refrigerant pipes and the cable for the temperature sensor. Thus, the wall between freezer and refrigeration unit has to be equipped with a suitable opening for these pipes and cable (contact us for more details on setting up the freezers).

Vacuum Chambers for Plastination (HL11 – HL12)
Freezer inserts made from stainless steel, for forced impregnation, one side has fittings for vacuum tubing and stainless steel corrugated hose for connecting a manometer, vacuum adjustment device, and vacuum pump. The cover is made from 10 mm (0.4 in) thick glass, so that the impregnation process can be monitored and controlled. The glass cover is supported by a stainless steel insert.

Vacuum Chamber for Extremities (HL11)

Air-Circulation heat Cabinet (HL20)
For the curing of organ and body slices with the E 12 and P 35 methods. 400 L (105 gal) capacity, temperature range: 40° C to 250 °C (104 °F to 482 °F).

With continuous air circulation, horizontally guided and distributed evenly around each shelf to avoid dead corners. Air-circulation remains on even after the target temperature has been reached. Precise control of temperature due to two separate feedback control systems for coarse and fine control. Precision: ± 1.5 °C to 2 °C. In combination with the continuous, horizontally guided air circulation, the temperature control allows for exceptional precision in maintaining the desired temperature, which helps to prevent heat damage to specimens. With the P 35 method light curing becomes unnecessary when the heating cabinet is used—heat curing alone will be sufficient. To achieve precise temperature control, the temperature sensor (protected by foil or polymer tubing) is directly inserted into the resin so that the polymerization heat is continuously compensated for.
